A Walk…

Along the Great Divide Trail, 2022

Celebrating 20 years since hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2002

My eyes already touch the sunny hill
Going far beyond the road I have begun
And so we are grasped, by what we cannot grasp
It has inner light, even from a distance
And changes us, even if we do not reach it,
Into something which, sensing it, we already are
A gesture waves us on, answering our own wave
But what we feel is the wind in our faces

Rainer Rilke

The adventure begins for us along the High Rock Trail
Day 1 with fresh faces and enthusiasm
Enjoying the view at every opportunity
And the wildflowers. It was an exceptional wildflower year
Into the wilderness web we go!
Daily water filtration
Flower, flowers, flowers!
Lost…and found, Whew!
Amazing hiking companions
My favorite photo from the hike
Water, beautiful life giving, water
Are we there yet? It’s hot out here!
Katie and her hiking companion, Shadow.
Down, down, down the rabbit hole. The GDT is a very consistent UP and DOWN hike!
With beautiful meadows and lakes in between
Keep on Truckin’
There’s a moose in this photo, really!
And a tired wolfie in this one 🙂
My doppelganger on the GDT, fun! Katie and her dog (who is ‘the other Katie’?)
This Katie hiked the entire GDT in 2022! Way to go, Katie!
And this guy hiked an amazing 100k!
On my bucket list to stay in these cabins by Assinaboine. Helicopter, yes please!
The mapster
I know you want one of these hats
I don’t know who these people are but boy does this photo capture the spirit after a long day of hiking
My solo adventure through the WGW was character building! Very rugged, remote and tough terrain
Solo river fording provides a healthy dose of humility
I was looking for sheep the entire hike. Last day, just moments before leaving the trail I walk past a whole meadow of them. Fantastic!
Our pod!
